The GrowGreen center will provide communities with local food and energy by combining a hydroponic greenhouse with a solar thermal / biomass power plant. The $250 million GrowGreen North Carolina project integrates a 100 acre greenhouse with a 40 megawatt (MW) co-generation power plant. The project is expected to bring more than 300 permanent jobs to an area already struggling with high unemployment rates.

“This is just another step in assembling a top-notch team of renewable energy visionaries” said L Huntley, CEO of GrowGreen Power.  “Larssen engineers have been at the forefront of new technology, building state-of-the-art greenhouses around the world for the last two decades. This combination is really going to make GrowGreen Power’s Anson County center a top-notch facility.”

Larssen Ltd greenhouse engineers (www.l-ge.com) have been involved with greenhouse projects on four different continents. Experts at integrating the newest growing trends into their designs, Larssen Ltd has the ability to leverage their experience with emerging technologies to create state-of-the-art agriculture systems that can operate in any kind of climate. Their expansion of the Sigg Plant in Finland is widely regarded as one of the most sophisticated greenhouse plants in the world.

GrowGreen Power Inc. (www.growgreenpower.com) is an integrator of renewable energy and greenhouse growing systems; combined solar thermal and biomass plants that provide electricity to the power grid and climate controlled hydroponic greenhouses. The integration of systems provides full use of all waste heat from the power plant to heat and cool the greenhouse, one of the first in the world to make this claim. CO2 emissions are scrubbed to food grade and used to feed the greenhouse crops. GrowGreen centers are fully sustainable and operate twenty-four hours a day. The advanced integration technology allows controlled growing environments to operate within a wide variety of climate zones.
